The Ferry Boarding Permit Inspection System ("the System") is a hi-tech security/access control system that utilizes contactless IC cards as ferry boarding permits, allowing individuals to carry out a series of application procedures online including certification approval, issuing, verification and monitoring. The System can be ideally used by different enterprises/units that need to apply for boarding permits and adopted by certain departments in boarder authorities for inspection and verification issues.

1) B/S structure: enterprises/organizations log into the management back-end system (server) to realize boarding permit application, inquiry and processing status online.

2) Customs officers log into the system to approve, verify and issue permits.

3) Patrol police officers use handheld data terminals (industrial PDAs) to inquire and verify the permits of holders with ease.

4) Mobile access control equipment can be installed on docks to do recording and registration of staff by swiping cards.

5) Terminals and command centers log into the system and monitor inspection easily.

Function modules details:

1) Enterprise online record module

This module is for enterprises and organizations that need to apply for the boarding permits to log into the system for submitting materials for record and registration. The materials and information will be verified by the boarder authorities and then issue the corresponding permits and certifications.

2) Enterprise online application module

Registered and verified users can apply for the boarding permits on corresponding windows online. Quantity of long-term permits application is subject to the standard and requirement issued by the headquarters in verifying record materials.

There are two types of boarding permit verification devices: a) mobile access control installed on high sealing environment docks or boarding ports of ship manufactories; b) handheld mobile terminals that are used to check and verify the users' certifications in certain areas. The handheld terminals should have GPS system that allows for accurate positioning.

5) Command center monitoring module

Specific monitoring interfaces/windows can be made to display card issuing progress and permits usage situation as well as the exact location of handheld data terminals used.

6) System user management module

User types can be registered or administrator. Through user management, different operating authorities can be granted to users.
