Enhance Customer Satisfaction with RFID Solution

Background
Everyone probably knows that convenience stores are the king in the Retails industry as customers visit these stores frequently to purchase daily need items. Family Mart is one of the convenience store chains in Taipei which was established in 1972. Today, FamilyMart operates more than 12000 stores in various countries such as Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and other countries. The company strongly believes that consumer satisfaction has a big impact on sales and with the expansion of its stores, Family Mart experiences the need for a better and automatic system to manage warehouses, stores and distribution channels which can ensure the availability of products all the time.

Challenges
1 The manual process required more time and manpower which often result in high cost and delay in order fulfilment.
2. Real-time inventory location identification is not possible in manual operation. Due to which staff unable to quickly locate the items in the warehouse.
3. A large quantity of FMCG goods makes it difficult for operators to record each entry without any error. As a result, there are always chances of wrong dispatch or order mismatch.
4. Managing and ensuring the availability of all the items in each store is difficult for management because they do not have access to real-time inventory data.

Solution
To make the warehousing, store and distribution management more efficient, FamilyMart identified the RFID solution, implemented in the warehouses and deployed RFID Readers with software integration. The company selected the Chainway RFID handheld terminal for this purpose. In the early stage of solution implementation, the company tagged each product with RFID tags with a unique code. At the time of stock in and out, an operator could read-write and update the stock with the help of an RFID reader. Furthermore, captured information could be stored in main database in real-time. A wireless network made it possible to share the data in real-time.

Effects 
1 Efficiency and accuracy have been improved with the help of a new solution. With the result, the workload on workers is also reduced.
2. RFID solution replaced the manual operation with the automatic process which facilitates intelligent sorting and stock take in-out. Thus, products can be delivered fast and ensure delivery within a timeline.
3. Real-time data is available for management. This data helps the management to ensure the availability of FMCG at the stores.
4. Consumer satisfaction was the main objective of the RFID solution implementation. Now, FamilyMart able to enhance the brand image with a large number of satisfied customers.
