WAREHOUSING | NORTH AMERICA | 2D Boost Logistics Efficiency for American E-commerce Company

Background

The e-commerce company covers 400,000 square feet of warehouse space in New York. It is one of UPS's largest independent customers. With a large distribution network and cooperation with Amazon, Wal-Mart, New Egg Network and other companies, there is a lifetime maintenance service center, which is one of the largest electronic equipment maintenance centers in the United States. In order to improve logistics distribution management, the e-commerce company finally reached cooperation with Chainway through the deployment of Chainway C72 smart handheld terminal to largely save labor costs and improve the overall operational efficiency.

Challenges

  • A large variety of storage goods requires a large storage area. The daily flows of put-away, receiving, delivery bring a large workload to workers with low manual efficiency.
  • During the processes of receiving, sorting and inventory, manual identification of commodity information results in inefficiency of the entire logistics distribution and low customer satisfaction.
  • It cannot monitor the flow status of goods in each link and the storage status of different goods in the warehouse in real time to realize timely replenishment.
  • The entire processes from receiving to delivery cannot be effectively tracked for customers’ reference.

Solutions

With the application of Chainway C72 mobile handheld terminal, the barcode recognition technology is fully utilized to realize the identification of goods and the input and output of the warehouse to achieve intelligent management with high efficiency. And it provides workers with data support to coordinate distribution of each batch of goods from the supplier to the different warehouses. What’s more, the data of the entire process is recorded and uploaded to the back-end management system for real-time monitor and data analysis.

Effects

  • The warehouse personnel can quickly obtain the relevant information of the goods by scanning the barcode on the outer packaging of the goods during processes of input and output of the warehouse, sorting, inventory, and put-away. The real-time data can be uploaded to the back-end system via WIFI, which greatly saves working time and improves operational efficiency.
  • Due to the real-time inventory record on the back-end system, management personnel can timely allocate goods to ensure the reasonable allocation of goods.
  • The management personnel can track real-time information of all goods, and keep electronic records on file for subsequent information query and data analysis.
  • The logistics operation information will be shared with the customers in real time to enhance customer satisfaction.
