Background
 
With the rapid development of logistics business, the number of single-day packages has soared, which has brought great challenge to the current manual-based parcel management, especially during the peak period of business such as "Double Eleven". In order to alleviate the pressure of parcel management, China Post decided to apply barcode technology to optimize site business processes and achieve intelligent management of site parcels.
 
Challenges
 
1. There are a large number of parcels on the site. The manual sorting method takes a long time, resulting in low efficiency.
2. On-site package s mainly relies on manual identification and sorting, thus, package search often takes a long time, which makes customers to wait for a long time.
3. It comes with low manual sorting efficiency during the process of picking up, entering, leaving, and sorting, which cannot cope with the peak logistics pressure.
4. The express information of sorting, input and output of the warehouse are confusing, which may lead to loss of parcels and unavailable information of parcels.
 
Solution
 
China Post finally chose to configure an information solution based on Chainway C66 industrial-grade handheld computer. With the application of barcode recognition technology, the site staff can scan the barcode of the package to accurately and quickly realize the intelligent operation of package receiving, sorting and delivery. And the status of parcels will be transmitted to the back-end system in real time through the network. The manager can obtain the package status information in real time through the background system. It greatly improves the efficiency and accuracy of site parcel management, and promotes the standardization of business operations.
