Waste Management solution with V600 Mobile Computer

Background
After Malta, Luxembourg is known for the smallest member state in Europe. Irrespective of this, the state generates the highest amount of MSW in Europe. Luxemburg has a large number of recycling centers for separate collected MSW which are governed by municipalities. Few years before, municipalities were managing this task by manual process but now a new technology has been implemented for this process.

Challenges
  1. Every day many governments and private garbage trucks transported the garbage to recycle centers around the cities. However, Luxembourg had a strict policy for waste management, many times these vehicles did not manage properly. Thus, causes traffic jam across the city.
  2. The manual process at recycling centers was time-consuming, error-prone and required high labour cost.
  3. It is hard to check the status of waste management because the manual process was being recorded on paper and could not be shared with central agencies in real-time.

Solution
Luxembourg’s municipal corporation implemented Chainway’s V600 vehicle computer for intelligent waste management process. The devices were planted in garbage trucks and RFID based ID cards were issued to the drivers and staff at recycling centers. An automatic system integrated with V600 devices worked for truck identification and clock -in and out management. The data could be updated in real-time with the central server.

Effects
  1. Now recycling plant could manage the flow of truck. The administration could allow different timing to trucks for entry in the recycling unit. As a result, the traffic jam is prevented.
  2. The real-time situation within trucks can be monitor via cameras integrated with V600 device. Beside this driver and staff need to authenticate them self by touching their IC card on V600 vehicle computer.
  3. Detail analysis is possible because real-time data of garbage trucks are available.
