Mobile Computer Based Solution for Robots Tracking

Background
Grey orange is an Indian multinational company manufacture and supply robotics solution for the warehouses and distribution centres. Company started its manufacturing operation in 2014 and capture good market share in robotics solutions. With the increase in production, company realized an asset tracking solution for its production facility.
 
Challenges
  1. It was difficult to tack the equipment, tools and machineries use in production facilities.
  2. Management was not able to prepare a proper chart for asset’s maintenance which could cause sudden failure of machines.
  3. Manual assets tracking process was time consuming, in accurate and costly.
  4. Manual data can not be share in real-time.
 
Solution
Grey Orange choose Chainway for supplying assets tracking devices. Chainway’s C4000 mobile computer was considered as most suitable devices for Grey Orange. Company implemented barcode technology; therefore, every tools, equipment and machineries were labelled with barcodes. Each barcode was coded with the information of respective assets such as purchase date, services schedule, location etc.
An authorized person with C4000 mobile computer scanned the asset’s barcode and identify the services schedule. The capture by mobile computer could be transfer to main database via wireless network. It ensured the availability of right assets at the right place. In the event of beackdown or emergency, an operator could take images of assets through C4000 mobile computer and take a note for further action.
 
Effects
1. The new system ensure the proper and timely maintenance of assets.
2. Now management is able to make decision on production requirement and schedule.
3. The solution ensure the availability of assets at the time of requirement.
4. Sudden breakdown of machinery can be reduced by proper maintenance and tracking.
5. Assets information are shared in real-time with management. So that misuse of assets can be stopped.
