Role of HF and Barcode Technology at Production Line

Background
The case study is about a cold chain equipment manufacturing company in China. The company has a big production facility and every product is being manufactured with key steps and different production lines. Many checkpoints are set up at different production line to ensure product quality. In case any product finds defective should be separated and send back for repair with all the information such as model number, problem identified, etc. The manual process of doing this is time-consuming and prone to errors, which is why the company implemented an Automatic data capturing solution.

Challenges
  1. Manual entry of repaired devices was time-consuming and error-prone.
  2. Actual product quantity and quality check of each batch were difficult which affect the overall production plan.
  3. Real-time status of products was not possible as there were multiple products with different production procedure.
  4. In the absence of correct statistical data, the company suffered many financial losses.

Solution the
cooling equipment manufacturing company consulted and deployed Chainway's C5000 mobile computer for data capturing process. The devices were integrated with HF and barcode readers. Thus, all the products in the manufacturing process were attached to HF RFID tags and barcode labels. The Chainway's C5000 mobile computer can scan barcode and RFID tag and capture the product's data at the time when the repair is needed. Once the repair is done, the product can be moved in and out in the The captured data could be updated in the main database of the company., and the department head had the access to the real-time data of all the products in production and warehouses.

 Effects
  1. The management achieves 100% accuracy in records. The automatic data capturing system has lifted up lots of pressure form assembly-line worker.
  2. With the availability of real-time data, management can check the product status and make a timely decision about production related adjustment.
  3. After deployment of the mobile computer at the production facility, the management able to enhance productivity and ROI.
