A Barcode Solution to Increase Warehouse Visibility

Background
Deployment of technology in every industry has recolonized the way of doing work smartly and warehouse management system is just one of its part. Like other electricity generation company, Energo-Pro also has a big warehouse to store electric meters. The company is founded in eastern Europe which mean it has access to other countries like Bulgaria, Georgia, and Turkey. With the increase in storage requirement it was tough to manage the inventory effectively.  Thus, the company implemented mobile computers, cloud computing and automated software to overcome this problem.  

Challenges
1. Manual entry of everyday stock in and out was a time-consuming process. An operator records the entry on paper which could be subject to error or manipulation.
2. Complete supply chain got affected when inventory records do not match with physical stock. It takes a lot of time to re-check the stocks.
3. It was difficult for workers to find out a specific meter within the warehouse as the location is not defined in the manual process.
4. Performance of warehouse employees could not be monitored in the absence of real-time data. 

Solution
As mention above, ENERGO-PRO implemented a barcode-based solution for stock in and out. To fulfill its requirement for a mobile computer, the company selected Chainway’s C6000 smart mobile computer. In this solution, a unique barcode label with complete product information is pasted on the electric meters. Workers use C6000 mobile computer to scan that barcode to capture and update the product information for stock management purpose. The device capability to communicate via wireless network helps the company to share the captured data in real-time with the main database.
 
Effects
1 Workers in a warehouse have access to the actual location of items within the warehouse. The system can even define the product location in shelves for quick sorting.
2. Now stock management has significantly improved, workers can dispatch the orders in time and management can avoid the out of stock situation as real-time data is available all the time.
3. Now worker need not reach closer to goods for data capturing. With C6000 mobile computer, the barcode can be read from long distance. It improves workers' efficiency.
