Inventory Management Solution for a Retail Chain

Background
Just like any other retail chain, we cannot compare carrefour in the same way. We need to know that carrefour is a hypermarket which was founded in 1959 in Europe. Since then, Carrefour has been maintaining a top position in Europe retail market and considered as the second-largest retail chain in the world. Now carrefour operates in more than 30 countries with 11000 retails stores. To stay ahead and proper management, inventory management is treated like a nervous system for the company and just like that every Carrefour retail unit has its own inventory system. Things could be complex if inventory and its data were not managed properly. Which is why, Carrefour implemented an inventory management solution with barcode technology, for which they selected Chainway C6000 Mobile computer.

Challenges
1. Manual operation added more workload on warehouse workers as carrefour stock variety of goods ranging from 80000 to 100000. Thus, resulted in more errors.
2. Inventory could not be optimized as management do not have access to updated information about inventory items. Usually, it ends up with access or out of stock inventory.
3. There was no real-time communication between stores and headquarter, which affects stock management, inventory forecast, and market strategy.

Solution
The most important factor in inventory management is scanners. Carrefour implemented barcode-based inventory management for Morocco stores for which it deployed Chaninway C6000 mobile computer for scanning. The solution boosts the performance of workers in inventory and facilitates real-time operation.
