Production Management with RFID Solution

Background
Specialized in molds and precision metal processing in the aviation industry, a company called Sofitec is leading supplier for reputed companies like Boeing and Airbus. The company was facing multiple challenges like timely delivery and ensure the good quality products to its clients. Thus, Sofitec deployed RFID technology in the entire production process which could track the production and ensure the quality of the product as requested by the client.
 
Challenges
1. As precision metal and molds are being used in the aviation industry so quality cannot be compromised. But due to the manual process, Sofitec could not ensure its customer about the safety of its products.
2. Data analysis is not possible because data is recorded in manual form instead of digital format which is highly inefficient and error-prone.
3. No record of production status is available which means a data of specific order or item cannot be identified timely.
4. Inventory could not be managed effectively. Staff always encounter with an overstock and understock inventory situation.

Solution 
Sofitech deployed Chainway C76 UHF mobile computer in production process. The workers captured the material information via RFID tag attached with production material. This data is transmitted to a central server via wireless network. This is how, production data is updated in real-time and management ensure the quality and quantity of products in production state only. 
 
Effects 
1. Product quality can be ensured more significantly with the help of a mobile computer.
2. worker efficiency has been increased with automatic data capturing. Worker equipped with mobile computer can capture the entire data within seconds.
3. Out-of-stock and over stock problem has been resolved as real-time inventory status is available all the time.
4. New solution enhances the customer satisfaction by supplying good quality material with in a time frame.
