Background

This phenomenon is visible in every industry. “Hennessy” a well-known brand in wine manufacturing has also realized the importance of better services to consumers. Thus, companies implemented a technology solution to facilitate fast delivery and enhance warehouse operation.

Challenges
1. Hennessy manufacture variety of wines which are needed to be stored in warehouses. But due to manual operation, it becomes very difficult for the worker to manage the inventory efficiently.
2. Many counterfeited product sells in the market in the absence of technological product identification which cases big losses for Hennessy.
3. Data accuracy and availability is not available in real-time which is important to make a decision regarding the purchase of raw material and dispatch of finished products.
4. Inventory location in the warehouse is not defined and can not be tracked easily by workers. This situation case a delay in delivery of material and further dissatisfy the customers.


Solution
Hennessy brought the RFID mobile computer from Chainway and an application that made it easy to manage the inventory in warehouses. The company selected chainway’s C4050 UHF model that could scan the RFID tag pasted on the wine bottle. The device is capable to adjust the reading distance as per the usage pattern which makes the scanning process fast. Furthermore, the data could be shared in real-time with main database through a wireless network like wifi, 4G, or Bluetooth.

Effects
1. Real-time inventory management is possible now which simplify the most complex process of inventory in and out.
2. Worker’s work efficiency has improved a lot as most of the process is automatic, effective and highly accurate.
3. Real-time update and visibility of stock has significantly reduced the chances of theft, loss, and manipulation.
4. Consumer satisfaction has also increased with duly availability of stock in stores all the time.
5. Most importantly, the company manages to trace each bottle and identify the counterfeited products circulated in the market which really help the company to automatically increase its market share.
