Fashion Store Resolve Inventory Issues with RFID Solution

Background
Shanghai La Chapelle Clothing Company has become the fastest-growing retail outlet in China.  The company offers multi-brand fashion apparel through its directly operated retail outlets across China. Now, the group is operating more than 9000 retail outlets and 2700 departmental stores in 31 provinces to offer a variety of apparel.
Chapelle noticed that over time, store and inventory management were affected due to manual method of stock management. With the large scale of the inventory management process, the company realized the need for an automatic stock management process. Thus, management introduced an RFID solution in stores and warehouses.

Challenges
1. Floor staff needs to manually search for a specific product demanded by customers which is time-consuming and error-prone.
2. Daily stock tacking is not possible due to heavy lots of stock at the store level. It increases the chances of errors and a shortage of required products in the store.
3. Apparel comes in different sizes & articles. Which is why to maintain a stock of all the items is a difficult task.
4. Real-time sharing of sales data is not possible in manual processes. Top management could not take the stock & marketing related decision timely to promote more sales.

Solution 
La Chapelle selected C76 mobile computer with a UHF RFID device to implement an inventory management solution at warehouses and store level. This mobile computer performs the stock in & out and stock tacking activity with the help of RFID technology. All the products are assigned to the RFID tags that store all the information about products. C76 read a bunch of these tags in a single scan and update the stock in the company database. Wireless functions in the devices make it possible to share the updated store's data with top management.

Effects
1. It reduces the labor cost of supply chain management and increases the efficiency of enterprises.
2. Store staff is able to search the required product quickly with the help of a C76 mobile computer. This technology has reduced customer waiting time and error rate.
3. Efficiency and accuracy have significantly improved with the help of mobile computer. Now, warehouse operator can scan the complete inventory items within few minutes.
4. Chances of wrong dispatch of products have also reduced. Automatic sorting and distribution process make is simple and efficient for operation staff.
5. Now staff at stores can focus on sales promotion activities instead of stock maintenance because stock tacking process required only few minutes in RFID solution.
6. The company achieved economy of operation due less manpower requirement in a new process.
