UHF RFID Solution for Auto-Parts Management

Background
SAIC is a one of the China-owned automotive design company which has a joint venture with Volkswagen group. SAIC Volkswagen has modern factories in many big cities in China. Because of the nature of the business, the company has to produce different kind of Automotive parts and molds which is why proper inspection and inventory count were difficult with the manual processes. Finally, the production department decided to implement an automatic solution with the help of RFID technology.

Challenges 
1. The manual process was slow, inaccurate and time- Consuming. An operator has to Records in The entries It Books Physically.
2. Similar Molds and Parts A Large Number of the make sizes The Inventory Process More Complex and prone to error.
3. Records enter on the books could not be stored for a long time and it takes time to search a particular entry in the book.


Solution
Mold management was the major issue with the SAIC Volkswagen. Thus, the company procured Chainway’s C72 UHF mobile computer for this process. All the metal parts and molds were tagged with an RFID card which contains all the detail of a particular product. An operator equipped with a C72 UHF handheld device could scan the anti-metal tags and easily realized the inventory process in the warehouse. The data captured and upgraded could be stored in the main database in real-time. This data could be further classified by the different department as per there need. All the updated inventory data is now available with all the concern department to take effective decisions.
