Expressway Inspection and Maintenance Solution

Background
With the progress being made in the economy and advances in the means of communication in various fields, expressways are playing an important role in transportation. Over the years, by using expressways, many public and private transport vehicles have played an important role in moving material from one place to another. Due to this the maintenance and inspection of these expressways have also become very difficult. However, highways inspection is very important to keep the highway safe for all kinds of vehicles. To overcome all these problems, a famous highway authority decided to use Chainway’s P80 Industrial Tablet for inspection & maintenance of expressways.
 
Challenges
  1. A high-level inspection was required for assets maintenance on the highway.
  2. Manual inspection and maintenance methods were not effective in terms of road safety.
  3. There was no transparency in incentive scheme and employee assessment due to no effective mechanism of employee’s supervision.
  4. The exchange of information was difficult due to improper communication in the system. Due to which it was difficult to access the early sign of damages.
  5. In the event of emergencies such as inclement weather and sudden road damage, quick action was not possible.
 
Solution
Considering the requirements of highway authority, Chainway corporation deployed its P80 industrial tablet for road maintenance and inspection work on the highways. With the help of P80, now on-field staff could be in touch with the command office on a real-time basis and share the information such as location update, work completion, low enforcement, and instruction, etc. Similarly, the control center also gets a lot of real-time information, such as employees’ location and detail of work done by him which plays an important role in evaluating the employees’ work and their promotion. All the information captured by P80 Tablet is saved in a special backend server and further process & analyze for future decision making based on this data. With the help of proper communication, in any emergency, a quick response team can be formed and interlinked with other facilities such as voice terminal, video conferencing, drone backhaul images, etc.
