Asset Management with C72 RFID Reader

Background
This case study is about a company related to electronic computer manufacturing industry. Company management was concerned about the maintenance of its assets for a long time. Which is why management decided to install a RFID technology base management system for assets in company offices and production facilities.
 

Challenges
  1. There were different types of assets in company, due to which the labor cost of maintaining them was very high.
  2. The company lacked the records of their assets for purchase, maintenance and depreciation, due to which managers were not able to plan maintain and buy new assets at the right time.
  3. In the absence of knowledge of the employee's work, it was very difficult to assess the employee performance.
  4. After equipment failure, it was difficult to repair it timely because it took time to retrieve and chase the equipment quickly which case losses to the company.

Solution
Each type of assets was attached with a special type of RFID tags, inside which it had all the information related to the assets such as maintenance record, name, category, purpose and duration of use. Now with the help of RFID Handheld terminal, Staff can read the tags to gather all the information related to assets and maintain the track record for replacement and schedule services. The data captured through handheld can be transmitted to central server in real-time basis for further analysis.
 

Effects
  1. Complete tracking of assets is possible in new system because every equipment is automatically recorded from purchase till the end of life.
  2. With proper maintenance of records, management able to save lot of money invested in assets management, labour and misuse of assets.
  3. Sudden backdown in production happens due to assets failure has significantly reduced with proper maintenance of equipment.
  4. Future projection for assets can be realized with details information about the assets. With the result, proper planning for replacement of equipment can be executed.
