Warehouse Management for Online Furniture Store in Turkey

Background
This case study is about a well-known e-commerce furniture brand in Turkey. The company was offering a wide range of furniture and operating a large distribution network. As an e-commerce company, managing distribution with the traditional manual method was no more effective. The company started facing issues like delay in product delivery, error in inventory management and time delay in inventory update, etc. Therefore, to improve inventory management and make it more reliable & faster, the e-commerce company decided to implement an effective inventory management solution with the help of the Chainway corporation.

Challenges
1. With a large number of deliveries daily, the management faced many challenges such as high error and slow processing rate.
2. Manual inventory management procedure recorded on papers, that took a long time in inventory update and could not be ensured for 100% accuracy.
3. An average furniture occupied more space for storage. Due to the lack of storage space, the company management could not afford to occupy overstock items.
4. Other issues like employee incentives base on actual work done by employees. But, in the present scenario, it was not possible to monitor worker performance.
5. It was tough to keep customer satisfaction due to the late delivery of items at the customer location.

Solution
To resolve these issues, the company management procured Chainway’s C72 UHF mobile computer to achieve intelligent stock management. The whole process divided into processes like stock in, sorting, inventory, and stock-out. The items in stock tagged with a specific RFID tag that includes product information. C72 device could read these tags from a long distance that significantly improved operational efficiency. The data capture with the device was transmitted to the backend server in real-time. It helped the inventory system to update the inventory information immediately and provide the updated information to managers. Similarly, with the help of real-time inventory information, managers could easily control the shortage and backlog of inventory in the warehouse.

Effects
 1. C72 device helps the operator to select the best route for efficient sorting and put-away process.
 2. The entire inventory management and distribution network has significantly improved with the replacement of traditional methods into an automatic process.
 3. It supports UHF reading in bulk to improving inventory efficiency.
 4. The problem of under and overstock of inventory has resolved with this device. The Real-time information not only helps the managers to take correct decision about the inventory management but also guide the managers to forecast future stock requirement.
