Background
A mobile network operator required a big setup of IT rooms and data analysis management throughout the nation. Every computer room includes many assets such as servers and computers. To improve inventory efficiency, the company decided to implement RFID technology and coordinate with the Chainway corporation for C72 UHF RFID Devices. The solution has converted the manual process into an intelligent inventory process.
 
Challenges
  1. There are several computer rooms which locate widely. Each room contains valuable assets such as servers and computer systems. The traditional method of assets inventory management is inefficient because management records information on the paper. This process is time-consuming and error-prone.
  2. The existing monitoring system for supervising the inspector’s work is insufficient. In the absence of a real-time information system, It is hard to ensure that proper inspection of assets is completed timely by the concerned person.
  3. The company management is not able to draw a maintenance and replacement plan for assets as information is not available in real-time. It affects the smooth functioning of the company operation.
Solution
Mobile network operating company deployed a UHF RFID based assets management system in IT rooms. In this solution, an RFID tag is attached to individual Assets that contain all the information. Management can track all the assets and maintain the data by scanning the tags with the C72 mobile computer. The devices can share the captured data with a cloud database via a wireless network in real-time.
