Store Management for a Fashion Brand

Background
This case study is about a fashion brand that manages its sales operation through online and offline retails outlets. The apparel brand operates more than 2745 department stores and 9066 retail outlets across the different provinces in the country. With the increase in revenue and inventory, the company required the latest technology to manage the product inventories and sales of each store. Thus, Brand choose UHF RFID technology with a handheld terminal to check and update the apparel inventory at the store level. This technology strengthens the overall management of sales and inventory for the company.
 

Challenges
  1. The consumer has to wait for a long time in the manual process because the operator needs to search for the specific product manually in the store.
  2. The stores need to perform stock-taking every day. Doing this with a manual process is time-consuming and error-prone.
  3. The sufficient supply of fast-moving goods was tough to manage due to the delay in sales data update. The counter sales can not be updated timely in manual process.
  4. The data collection between the various chain stores is difficult. The headquarters cannot obtain the sales status of each chain store quickly, which affects the timely adjustment of inventory configuration and related strategies based on the market.
Solution
The company selected and deployed Chainway C76 UHF mobile computers in stores, distribution centers, and warehouses for inventory management purposes. The Chainway mobile computers integrated with intelligent inventory management solutions and facilitate the accuracy and quick management of RFID tagged apparel products at each store. The RFID solution doesn’t only result in high accuracy but also improves brand image and services.
 

Effects
  1. With the C76 mobile computer and related application, the customer’s waiting time has significantly reduced. Therefore, the company now has more satisfied customers. The new system provides fast stock-taking with accuracy and efficiency. A similar work would have taken several hours, now can be done within half an hour.
  2. The solution improves the inventory sort and distribution management at distribution centers as well. The rate of accurate sorting has significantly improved. The high-speed operation ensures the timely supply of goods at stores.
  3. Company management is now able to get sales data on a real-time basis that helps them to adjust the marketing and sales strategies as per the sale of items.
  4. It reduces the labor cost of supply chain management and increases the efficiency of enterprises.
