Fleet Management for an Enterprise in Finland

Background
This case is about a public and commercial transportation service provider. The company has headquartered in Turku, Finland, and also operates in other countries like Riga & Latvia. Besides this, the enterprise has many partners in Russia, Oman, Romania, Mexico, Japan, Sudan, Laos & Germany. Due to the wide area of a network, transportation service provide was looking for a cost effective solution for fleet management. Therefore, it collaborates with Chainway corporation on Latvia’s logistics management project. To meet the customer demand for monitoring and positioning function of vehicles, Chainway deployed its V600 vehicle computer in this project.
 
Challenges
1 Manual process of logistics management has a high error rate due to the heavy workload of data recording. The situation gets more complicated in case of transportation via railway, ports, and docks, etc.
2 Company management unable to present accurate records of vehicle transportation that results in unexpected losses and late delivery of consignments.
3 There is no reliable assessment basis for personnel management.
4 In the absence of real-time data records and information, company management could not offer the best services to the customers.
 
Solution
The service provider company deploys the Chainway V600 vehicle terminal in each vehicle assigned for transportation services. This device offers multiple functions like GPS, tracking, and positioning of logistics in real-time. Besides, the OBD function shares the vehicle data with company management in real-time. This information and data can be analyzed by the management to regulate driver behavior, logistics route, assigning duties, and dispatch schedule for driver and other operation staff.
 
Effects
1 V600 improves the operational efficiency of the logistics and transportation process. The new process saves time and cost by transforming the manual process into an automatic logistics solution.
2 OBD, GPS tracking & positioning function helps the management in monitoring the vehicle condition in real-time. The real-time data is shared with the server via a 4G wireless network.
