Parts Management for A Car Enterprise in Germany

Background
For the past two years, the German government has proposed an industry 4.0 theory which is needed to be implemented in different industries. To comply with the policy, a German car manufacturer decided to implement the latest technology to automate the production facility. Therefore, the car company decided to deploy the Chainway C72 UHF handheld terminal to manage auto parts inventories in production facilities and warehouses.

Challenges
l Company has a large production line platform that involves a variety of auto parts. Manage these auto parts inventories with a manual process subject to errors, time-consuming, and high operational costs.
2 It is difficult for the operator to locate the shelve for a particular spare part.
3 Manual entry in inventory management book general does not match with the actual inventory. This method is highly unreliable and affects the operational efficiency of the company.
4 The tracking mechanism is not efficient, as a supervisor can not supervise the work of production line workers.
5 Real-time inventory data is not available. Thus, the stock of auto parts in warehouses can not be updated or realized automatically. That is the major disadvantage of the manual process because management can not analyze the consumption pattern and ensure the regular supply of stock in warehouses.

Solution
Chainway deploys its C72 UHF handheld terminal in the car company’s facilities to realize intelligent inventory management in the production line. A unique identification UHF RFID tag is assigned to each item at the time of entry into a warehouse. This tag contains information related to the attached auto part. Thus, an operator does not need to record the item information manual. This process is done with the help of a C72 UHF RFID reader. An operator can do various activities like automatic input and output of items, generate an auto report, and auto-transfer capture information to the central server.

Effects
1 Management significantly reduces the error rate and improve the efficiency in input and output of inventory data.
2 It is now easy to trace the auto parts. The system can automatically alarm in case of material loss. Thus, the illegal supply of the auto part is not possible anymore.
3 C72 UHF reader can capture a large number of item data with a single click. This technology significantly saves the time involved in stock management.
4 It shortens customer response time and promotes the efficient operation of the entire production line.
