Background
This case study is about an e-commerce company having 400000 square feet of space for a warehouse. Company deals with big e-commerce giants such as Amazon, Wal-Mart, New Egg Networks, and many other companies for providing lifetime maintenance services on electronic equipment. Infect, this company has the largest maintenance centers in the United States. To upgrade and improve the logistics distribution management, the e-commerce company discussed with Chainway corporation for the deployment of C72 mobile computers in its warehouses.
 
Challenges
1 Company has a large number of inventories to be stored in warehouses. Operators need to receive and dispatch the items using the manual method daily. It reduces the employee’s efficiency.
2 Customers are not satisfied with delays and inaccurate delivery of goods because workers in warehouses are using the manual process in receiving, sorting, and stock management.
3 It cannot monitor the flow status of goods in each link and the storage status of different goods in the warehouse in real-time to realize timely replenishment.
4 The customer, on the other side, cannot track his item delivery status. Thus, he is unsure about the timely delivery of goods.
 
Solutions
The company management explores and deploys barcode technology to identify the goods. Therefore, Chainway’s C72 mobile computer is chosen to utilize in inventory management. The barcode solution supports the warehouse operators with product data that is important for the distribution of product batches receive from suppliers and deliver to various warehouses. The whole inventory management process is automated as capture data is recorded and uploaded on central database management for real-time analysis.
 
Effects
1 The new system saves the time and efforts of workers involved in stock management. Now, they just need to scan the barcode pasted on each item with the help of the C72 mobile computer. The captured information is recorded automatically into a database at the time of product input, output, and sorting process.
2 With the availability of real-time inventory data, management can timely allocate the goods for various destinations. It helps the company management to overcome the problem of overstocking and shortage of goods in warehouses.
3 The management personnel can track real-time information of all the items and keep electronic records on file for subsequent information query and data analysis.
4 The product delivery status can be shared with the customer on a real-time basis that enhances customer satisfaction.
