Warehouse Management for An Online Mall in Korea

Background
This case study is about an online mall in Korea. This mall is one of its kind and dominates the eCommerce market in Korea. With the widespread presence online, mall management manages broad logistics infrastructure too. Recently, this company deploys a Chainway C76 mobile computer in warehouses for inventory management with UHF RFID technology.
 
Challenges
  1. Company deals in a variety of products on a large scale. Recording these entries by a manual method is a complicated and time-consuming process.
  2. The shopping experience and customer satisfaction are affected due to inefficiency in stock in and out process in warehouses. The manual process usually delays the delivery of the product to the end customer.
  3. Management can not update the warehouse data timely as all the entries enter manually in the system. So, it impacts the capability of company management to effectively record the inventory.
  4. Management can not track the item dispatch to the end customer, which results in uncontrollable delivery time and late delivery.
  5.  In the absence of an effective incentive mechanism, company management can not effectively supervise staff performance.
 
Solution
Company management introduced RFID technology for inventory management. For which, the company deployed Chainway C76 UHF mobile computers in its warehouses. An operator equipped with these mobile computers can easily capture the information from the tag pasted on each item. The captured data is transmitted and updated on the central server in real-time.
 
Effects
  1. The RFID based system has significantly improved the stock visibility and operational efficiency of warehouses.
  2. Management achieves 99% accuracy by automating the sorting process. This process ensures that the correct parcel should reach the right customer. 
  3. The employee working data such as work done, time consumption and person assignment is recorded in real-time to strengthen staff supervision. It helps in establishing a perfect personnel incentive process to further improve the work quality.
  4. The RFID system interconnects all the offices, warehouses, and stores in the country. It further strengthens the nationwide quick logistics services.
  5. Management can ensure timely delivery to the customer. It helps the company to achieve high customer satisfaction and sales.
