Feed and Vaccine Management for COFCO

Background
COFCO ( China Oil and Foodstuffs Corporation ) is a leading supplier of agri-products with grain, oil, sugar, and cotton. Its production base and cooperative farms have consulted with Chainway to implement intelligent and efficient management of livestock feeding & vaccination in farms.

Challenges
1. It requires precise and strict control of livestock feeding in every link. The traditional feed and vaccine management methods are operating manually and resulting in greater uncontrollability.
2. Traditional management methods rely on visual recognition during the cycle-counting and searching, which is inefficient and error-prone.
3. There is no smooth access to quickly track the production, circulation, and use flows of feed and vaccine. Once any problems occur, it is difficult to identify an accountable person.
4. The Staff manually records the status of the feed and vaccine consumption. This method is not only inefficient but also causes random filling.

Solution
COFCO chose to configure a barcode-integrated information solution with Chainway C66 industrial-grade intelligent handheld computer. A unique two-dimensional barcode is attached to the feed and vaccine, which comes with the relevant information like production, manufacturer, expiration date. Workers scan the QR code with a handheld computer to quickly obtain all relevant information about the barcoded item and perform the respective operation. Meanwhile, the data can also be updated to the backend system in real-time through the wireless network. This process allows managers to check detailed information and perform further operations.

Effects
1. It standardizes the operational process of feed and vaccines in production bases and farms, enhances the management level, and improves the working efficiency.
2. The information-based operation method enables the traceability of the production, circulation, and use of feed and vaccine. Once problems occur, it brings great convenience and efficiency in problem-solving.
3. It allows more efficient supervision of feed and vaccines and further guarantees the security and compliance of livestock breeding in farms.
