Railway Track Inspection for Beijing Metro Line 8

Therefore, Beijing metro introduces a mobile computer based intelligent inspection application to increase the quality of railway track inspection, prevent equipment accidents, and ensure travel safety. Challenges 1. The manual inspection methods are time -consuming and error-prone, resulting in low efficiency.2. The entire cycle time from the receiving of inspection tasks to the completion and reporting is too long.
 

 

 


3. The management personnel cannot effectively supervise the inspection work and confirm whether the inspection personnel is in place.
4. The maintenance personnel, foreman, and quality inspector cannot coordinate closely. When a problem arises on a particular link, the staff cannot solve it promptly.
5. Managers can not be informed promptly by the field staff on the status of inspection work. Thus, they cannot make a reasonable maintenance plan.
 
Solution
 
Beijing Metro introduced Chainway C72 handheld computer based on two-dimensional code technology for intelligent patrol inspection. The inspection personnel receive new tasks on C72 in real-time and scan the barcode at the inspection points. After completion of the work, he needs to upload the real-time inspection records on the device. If required, inspection staff can also take photos or videos with the intelligent terminal, then perform the real-time reporting of inspection records through the network. It significantly improves the efficiency and accuracy of railway inspections.
 
Effects
 
1. It effectively standardizes the workflow of the railway inspection, reduces the workload of patrol inspection, and increases the ratio of arriving appointed places during patrol inspection.
2. The maintenance personnel enters the maintenance information in real-time based on the actual inspections, which facilitates timely operation management and accurate decision-making.
3. With the application of C72, it enables close coordination and cooperation among maintenance personnel, foremen, and quality inspectors. The C72 device enhances the efficiency of work and the quality of inspections.
4. The combination of portable intelligent devices and fixed computers enhance the overall management level of Beijing Metro Line 8.
