Information Management for Erniu Meadow in Hebei

Background
With its high nutritional value, milk is an essential part of people's daily life. To strengthen the supervision of raw milk quality, Erniu Meadow in Hebei applied a combination of barcode and UHF technology to digitalize management of milk production, acquisition, and transportation data and records milk production processes to ensure the best quality of the milk.

Challenges
1. The actual identification of the cows was performed manually, which is heavy-loaded and error-prone.
2. It is tough to track the milk yield of each cow. Managers cannot accurately know and predict milk production to take further decisions.
3. Existing system cannot control the whole process of milk from the production to the final market. Once any quality problems occur, supervisors can not take quick action to resolve the issues.

Solution
Chainway C71 handheld computer with built-in UHF is deployed to solve the above problems. Combined with UHF and two-dimensional code, it achieves accurate supervision on production, acquisition, and transportation of raw milk. The worker scans the two-dimensional code and UHF tags attached to the cows' tail to identify the cow data and records the milk yields of the corresponding cow. The data is uploaded to the database system in real-time. Moreover, the worker just needs to scan the QR code with a handheld computer to obtain detailed information of raw milk purchase station, transport vehicle and ensuring full supervision & the safety of raw milk.

Effects
1. It identifies cows with a handheld computer and makes recordings of milk yield, which significantly improves working efficiency.
2. The captured data is uploaded to the database in real-time, which provides managers a smooth channel to obtain milk yield information for effective management and accurate decision-making.
3. It realizes the information visibility of dairy cows from milk production to transportation, which can better reduce or eliminate problems from the source and ensure the safety and quality of milk.
4. Supervisors can quickly trace the whole process of a batch of milk sources with handheld computers and perform the sampling inspection with high speed. At the same time, problems can be traced, which helps in achieving precise supervision and ensuring the quality and safety of raw milk.
