Power Patrol Inspection Management for NARI-TECH

Background

NARI-TECH is the first listed company in the State Grid Corporation of China. It is a provider of integrated energy internet solutions with energy and power intelligence as its core, covers the fields such as power grid automation and industrial control, IT & communication, relay protection & flexible power transmission, power generation, water conservancy, and environment protection.
To further optimize the management of intelligent power inspection, NARI-TECH applied UHF RFID technology to improve the efficiency and quality of power patrol inspection.

Challenges

1. There are different types of transformer and transmission equipment with a wide distribution range, which leads to heavy inspection tasks.
2. The demand for power supply is growing fast, and the equipment often needs to run at full capacity. Thus, the equipment operation and maintenance will be performed with high frequency, resulting in a heavy workload.
3. The traditional manual inspection method causes missed inspections, wrong inspections, and inadequate inspections, which poses hidden safety hazards.
4. The transformer and transmission equipment in the substation are dangerous. During the manual inspection process, the inspector needs to keep close to this equipment, which leads to safety accidents.
5. It cannot effectively supervise and manage the inspection personnel and ensure the quality of inspection work.
6. The inspection data cannot be transmitted immediately. Once the breakdown occurs, the manager cannot make a timely maintenance plan.

Solution

Combined with actual needs, NARI-TECH chose to deploy Chainway R6 UHF Sled reader to realize the intelligent power operation and maintenance. A unique identifiable ID is affixed on each transmission equipment. A worker can read the tags with the help of R6. The device can be paired with the inspection system on a mobile phone to complete the intelligent inspection of the equipment at a long distance with high efficiency and security. In addition, the inspection information can be transmitted to the management system in real-time through the wireless network, so the administrator can obtain the equipment inspection information in real-time and make a proper maintenance plan in time.

Effects

1. It achieves paperless inspections, standardizes the process, and enhances the information management level of inspection.
2. It effectively ensures the work quality of inspectors, improves the safety and reliability of power facilities, and eliminates potential safety hazards to the greatest extent.
3. It strengthens the monitoring of inspectors’ work, preventing incorrect inspections and missed inspections.
4. The inspection process is customized based on actual needs. It enhances the ability to handle emergencies.
5. There is no need to install any equipment in power facilities. Only using R6 with a mobile phone can realize UHF reading and writing. It reduces procurement and maintenance costs.
