Background
 
Yihai Kerry Group is a diversified enterprise group that specializes in grain and oil processing, oil technology, warehousing and logistics, and domestic and foreign trade. It entered the edible oil and feed market in Vietnam in 2016 and became the largest edible oil producer in Vietnam. Yihai Kerry in Vietnam decided to use RFID technology to realize intelligent warehouse management, improve working efficiency and streamline the operational process.
 
Challenges
 
1. The large-scale warehouses can store the bulk of products in variety which brings a high workload, long working hours, and labor costs.
2. Manual operation method features low efficiency and higher error rate, often resulting in the inconsistency of storage and physical accounts.
3. The managers cannot know the stock level of the warehouse in time. Thus, they can not adjust the inventory configuration timely and make the warehouse distribution plan.
4. The data statistics of inventory consumption are cumbersome and cannot be accurately updated in real-time, which leads to overstock or shortage of commodities.
5. When searching for goods, workers need to manually identify them. Due to the bulk of goods in the warehouse, it often takes a long time to find the right one.
 
Solution
 
Based on the application of RFID technology and the actual application needs of users, Chainway configured the R2 Bluetooth UHF reader. Each item affixed with an RFID tag in the warehouse has unique electronic identity information. Workers only scan the goods with R2 to quickly complete the cycle-counting of the goods with high accuracy and efficiency, which saves their time. And the data can be transmitted to the database system in real-time via Bluetooth. Thus, managers can check the real-time data to carry out the optimized marketing plan.
 
Effects
 
1. The application of R2 enables intelligent operations such as stock-taking, sorting, input, and output of warehouses, which saves time and effort, delivers high efficiency and precision.
2. The information is automatically recorded and transmitted to the database system via the network without manual recording, which realizes the paperless office.
3. It improves the efficiency of goods during input and output of the warehouse, avoids manual operation errors, and effectively ensures the adequate supply of various commodities.
4. The manager can obtain the inventory information in real-time to perform accurate and efficient warehousing management.
5. The improved efficiency of warehousing operation promotes the improvement in sales service and brings higher consumer satisfaction.
 
6. R2 can also be used for the rapid bulk identification of commodities in the warehouse. Workers can accurately find the target goods in a short time, which reduces the waiting time of customers.
