ASSET MANAGEMENT|ASIA|

Using Chainway C72 UHF RFID Readers for Prisoner and Asset Tracking

Background
Prisons are an important part of the national judiciary. They are responsible for the implementation of law and reformation of prisoners. The work is complicated and responsible, which includes preventing prisoners from escaping, fighting, self-injury, riots, horsing around and threating disciplinary cadres and staff, etc.
However, now prisoner management is achieved by guard inspection plus camera surveillance and alarm. Manual operations account for a large proportion, which cannot meet the requirements of the current digital trend. Manual information collection and input is laggard. And it is hard to know the prisoner location. On the other hand, various tools and assets are frequently handed out and taken back. Manual inventory checking is inefficient and inconvenient.

Challenges

  • When prisoners are working outdoors, it is hard to track their location in real time as well as tool location. Tool missing and prisoner substitution frequently happen.

  • No real-time prisoner location available can result in delayed emergency handling.

  • It is hard to track tools and assets. The lost tools and assets can be hardly found back. Besides, lost tools may cause accidents.

  • Manual asset inventory is time-consuming, inefficient and inaccurate.

Solution
Chainway recommended C72 UHF RFID readers for the prison. All tools, assets, prisoners' bracelets, fetters, and uniforms are first attached with a unique UHF RFID tag into which info like tool name and number, prisoner name and number are written. These info are recorded in the backend system too. By scanning the tag with Chainway C72 UHF RFID readers, all these info can be retrieved. Newly added info can also be synced to the backend system in real time. Administrators are able to monitor all prisoners and track all assets via the backend system. C72 UHF RFID reader takes place of traditional manual operations, brings great convenience for prisoner tracking and inventory checking.

Effects

  • It realizes real-time prisoner monitoring and tool tracking. Daily management now becomes more convenient and efficient.

  • C72 realizes intelligent asset checking, which significantly improves the inventory efficiency and saves labor costs.

  • Real-time location tracking of prisoners and tool assets is conducive to the timely handling of emergencies. The security of the prison has been improved.
