Computer Lab Management for a Mobile Network Operator

Background
 
A mobile network operator has built numerous IT computer room for operation and data analysis throughout the whole country. There are many assets including servers inside the IT computer rooms. Aiming to improve the efficiency of inventorying of those enterprise assets, the mobile network operator cooperated with Chainway with C72 UHF handheld device, and it has changed the clumsy way of manual inventory in the past and benefits the construction of enterprise informatization.
 
Challenges
 
  • The computer rooms are numerous, widely distributed, and with many high-value assets inside. There are many problems using the traditional manual way of inventory management. When inventorying IT computer room assets, the use of handwritten transcripts for asset information recording takes a long time and is inefficient.
  • No effective monitoring mechanism is established to effectively supervise the work of the inspectors, and it is impossible to ensure that the inspection work of the IT computer room in place.
  • The management personnel cannot check the maintenance status of each equipment in real time, and cannot make a reasonable maintenance plan in time, which affects the normal operation of the company.
  
Solution
 
Attaching RFID electronic tags to different assets with unique identifiable information, by configuring a C72 handheld terminal of Chainway, which is integrated with UHF RFID and Wi-Fi functions, you can quickly identify and obtain tag correspondence by scanning asset tags. The asset information is transmitted in real time through wireless communication technology to realize intelligent tracking and management of all assets.

  • Using C72 via simple configuration process, IT room management work becomes standardized and efficiency is highly increased. Intelligent device tracking operation is convenient, less time-consuming and accurate. Guaranteed asset security and dynamic supervision. Timely maintenance improves asset utilization and extends assets life.
  • The central database accepts data transmission in real time, the system automatically classifies data, generates reports, and improves work efficiency. According to the data, the management level is able to timely plan the maintenance schedule to ensure that all assets can be used normally at critical times.
  • If the related equipment is stolen or improperly repaired, the relevant responsible person can be quickly tracked and dealt with in a timely manner to reduce losses.
