Stadium Ticket and Fan ID Verification in Cyprus

Background
For major sporting events, efficient entry management is essential to both security and the fan experience. Stadium operators need to verify that each visitor holds a valid ticket while also confirming that the ticket matches the individual’s registered Fan Card or Fan ID.
In Cyprus, a mobile verification application has been introduced to support this process across stadiums nationwide. At entry points, staff need a reliable handheld device that can quickly capture ticket information, support identity verification workflows, and communicate with the application while handling large crowds.
The project selected the Chainway C90 Mobile Computer as the field device for stadium admission checks, providing portable barcode scanning, NFC capability, cameras, and wireless connectivity in a rugged yet lightweight form factor.

Challenge
  • Two-part admission verification: Entry staff must validate both the event ticket and the associated Fan Card or Fan ID before allowing access.
  • Heavy traffic at entry points: Large numbers of fans may arrive within a short period, requiring fast and straightforward verification to keep queues moving.
  • Mobile operation throughout the venue: Staff need a compact handheld device that can be used comfortably at different gates and inspection points.
  • Reliable performance in demanding environments: Stadium operations require devices capable of handling frequent scanning and continuous daily use.

Solution
The Chainway C90 was deployed with the stadium ticketing application to provide a unified mobile platform for ticket and Fan ID verification.
  • Fast ticket capture: The C90’s high-performance 2D barcode scanning capability enables staff to quickly capture ticket information at stadium entrances.
  • Ticket-to-fan verification: Captured ticket data can be checked through the application against the corresponding Fan Card or Fan ID, helping ensure that admission credentials match the correct visitor.
  • Multiple verification capabilities: Built-in NFC and front and rear cameras provide additional data capture options within the mobile verification workflow.
  • Designed for high-frequency use: Weighing only 230 g, the C90 is easy to carry throughout long shifts, while its 5.7-inch display provides clear access to verification information.
  • Rugged, all-day mobility: A 5,000mAh battery, IP67 protection, and 1.5-meter drop resistance help the device withstand demanding stadium operations.
