Background
For passengers, waiting for a long time to pick up luggage is an unpleasant experience at the airport, even ruining the mood of travel. Also for airlines, if the luggage is mishandled or lost, they not only need to deal with passengers' complaints, but also will face with financial losses, which will seriously affect the image of airlines. In order to further enhance service experience for the passengers and improve the efficiency of baggage tracking, Royal Air Maroc decided to use barcode technology to track and manage the entire baggage process.
Challenges
1. The luggage checking process like sorting, loading, and picking up is completed by manual identification and comparison, which takes a long time and has low work efficiency.
2. Passengers have to wait too long when claiming their luggage with traditional luggage management method, resulting in low passenger satisfaction.
3. The traditional identification of luggage easily causes luggage misshippment, causing inconvenience and loss to passengers and airlines.
4. The location of luggage in transit cannot be tracked. It is difficult to find and track baggage. Once lost, it is difficult to take it back.
Solution
Royal Air Maroc deployed Chainway C66 handheld computer for luggage management. It can identify the barcode on the luggage, record and verify the information of the luggage during the check-in process, which realizes trace management for the entire process.
In specific applications, when passengers check in their luggage, the airport ground staff will stick a unique identifiable barcode to the luggage, and write the luggage tag number, flight number, departure port, arrival port, departure and landing time into the information system. Thus, the staff scans the barcode on luggage and compares the baggage information through C66 handheld terminal, and uploads data information to the background database in real time, so as to achieve accurate tracking of the entire transportation process, and ensure the safety transport. At the same time, passengers can also query luggage arrival, unloading, sorting, and delivery information in real time through the network.

1. It achieves the intelligent reading, recording and comparison of baggage information, which significantly improves working efficiency.
2. Transportation data of luggage is recorded in a more timely and accurate manner. Thus, the collection rate and the accuracy of luggage data information have been greatly improved.
