Enhance Warehouse Visibility for IKEA in Saudi Arabia

For any business to flourish an expansion in storage space, quantity, and types of goods is integral. Therefore, management requires effective warehouse management and logistics distribution to keep pace with the expansion strategies. For retail enterprises, efficient warehouse management can not only save operational costs and increase the speed of logistics operations but also provide customers with punctual delivery service, which in turn enhances customer satisfaction and the overall corporate image. IKEA in Saudi Arabia adopted barcode & UHF technology offered by Chainway RFID reader C72 for its inventory management.

 Challenges

 1. The traditional method required a huge workforce but resulted in low efficiency, which quantified a lot of time and labour and was error prone.
 2. Due to a large number of goods in the warehouse, it was not possible to access and identify the location of the items in real time, which it difficult to find the items in the warehouse in a short time. It resulted in stagnation of the overall distribution efficiency, resulting in low customer satisfaction.
 3. Managers wouldn't obtain accurate data for input and output of the warehouse in real-time. It was difficult for them to  consider purchase plans for the first time, which affected normal operations of enterprises.
 
 Solution

 IKEA in Saudi Arabia deployed Chainway RFID reader C72 for high traceability in the warehouse. A unique barcode/RFID tag was pasted on each product as its ID. During in-&-out of items in the warehouse, put-away, cycle-counting, and sorting, warehouse workers simply read the barcode/tag to process the items quickly and accurately. Based on the UHF function of C72, it could realize bulk reading of goods in the warehouse, which greatly improved the efficiency of the stock-taking process. Besides, the corresponding data can be conveniently transmitted to the database system in real-time via Wi-Fi.
 
 Effects

1. With the deployment of C72, the task that used to get completed in a long time can now only take a few minutes, which significantly enhanced the speed and accuracy of inventory processing.
2. It automated receiving and delivery, free from manual operation, and increased the accuracy of product sorting. And the high-speed operation of product distribution has been promoted to ensure timely replenishment of goods.
3. It can effectively track and record the entire circulation status of the goods and the respective person in charge. In case of any issue, the responsible person could be identified and corrective measures could help in minimizing the losses.
4. It reduces the general stock level and shortens the inventory retention time, which greatly optimizes the allocation of resources and improves the utilization of storage space.
5. The circulation speed of goods has improved, and the circulation cycle has also been curtailed. It also enhanced the overall service quality and brand image brings high customer satisfaction.
